Is paragliding in Bali safe?

Tandem paragliding is an adventure sport with real risk, and it depends on the wind, the site and the pilot. In Indonesia every pilot must hold current FASI Paralayang membership to fly legally, and visiting pilots may not fly paying tandems. In August 2025 Badung authorities ordered two unlicensed operators in Desa Kutuh to stop, and a tandem accident at Tanah Barak in July 2025 is on public record. What happens if the wind is wrong?

Paragliding is entirely weather-dependent. Flights run in the afternoon window (operator hours cluster around 11:00 or 12:00 to 17:00) and only when the wind is on the right side of the cliff; the pilot decides who flies and when.
